About the Role
L+C seeks a skilled Carpenter to join its small but growing team and lead single family, multi-family, and mixed-use rehabilitation projects from interior demolition to drywall. L+C seeks a Carpenter that shows initiative, flexibility, attention to detail, and a passion for restoring some of South City’s roughest buildings.
Skills and Qualifications
Prior experience in a range of construction trades.
Proficiency in using standard carpentry tools and techniques.
Understanding of building code and standards of construction.
Ability to read basic construction drawings and measurements.
Strong attention to detail and quality
Possess a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
Reliability and willingness to work both independently and in a team environment.
Ability to troubleshoot on-site issues and provide creative solutions.
Desire to grow in the trade.
Responsibilities
Lead the framing stage of historic rehabilitation projects, including installation of floor joists, subflooring, demising walls, window framing, porch and fence construction, etc.
Lead related framing stage tasks including installation of doors, windows, insulation, firestopping, etc.
Assist finish carpenters with larger jobs, including cabinet and door installation and execution of punch list.
Assist Construction Manager with setting the project schedule.
Assist Construction Manager with ordering materials (measuring and scheduling).
Assist in unloading, staging, and organizing materials.
Follow directions from the Construction Manager and adapt to evolving site conditions.
Communicate issues, questions, and requests to Construction Manager and/or Owner
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Use hand and power tools with proper safety and care.
Wear required PPE and follow all site safety protocols.
Occasionally, interface with subcontractors and suppliers under supervision.
Requirements
Must supply basic set of hand and power tools
Ability to stand, walk, work with your hands, climb ladders, work on scaffolding, move 50 lbs independently for extended periods of time
Ability to work in heat and cold as necessary
Maintain reliable form of transportation and driver’s license
